Practical systems for manufacturing operations

Most manufacturers do not need a full ERP replacement. They need the two or three processes that still run on paper and spreadsheets to work properly.

Context

Where the ERP stops and the registers start

Manufacturing businesses often have an ERP that handles accounting and inventory reasonably well, alongside a set of processes it never covered: quality records kept in registers, machine downtime noted on a whiteboard, vendor documents tracked in a spreadsheet, and production data typed in at the end of a shift. These gaps are where the useful work is. A focused application that captures shop-floor data properly usually delivers more value than a large system replacement, and carries far less risk.

Common challenges

Why shop-floor problems are found a shift too late

  • Shop-floor data reaches systems late

Production and downtime are recorded on paper and entered later, so by the time anyone can analyse a problem the shift has long ended.

  • Quality records are on paper

Inspection results are kept in registers, which makes trend analysis impractical and audit preparation a scramble.

  • Vendor compliance is tracked manually

Supplier certifications, test reports and registrations are chased by email and tracked in a spreadsheet that is rarely current.

  • The ERP does not cover everything

Processes the ERP was never configured for run on spreadsheets alongside it, with data entered twice and reconciled by hand.

  • Maintenance is reactive

Preventive maintenance schedules exist on paper and are followed when someone remembers, so breakdowns are found rather than prevented.

Relevant use cases

What we build for manufacturers

01

Production and downtime capture

Shift-wise output, rejection and downtime recorded at the machine on a tablet or phone, with reasons captured in a structured way that supports analysis.

02

Quality inspection records

Digital inspection forms with parameter limits, automatic pass and fail marking, photograph attachment and a searchable history per batch.

03

Vendor compliance portal

Suppliers upload their own certifications and test reports against a checklist, with expiry reminders and a compliance view across the vendor base.

04

Preventive maintenance tracking

Schedules by machine and running hours, with task checklists, completion records and history of what was done.

05

Plant performance dashboard

Output against plan, rejection trends, downtime by cause and machine utilisation, refreshed daily rather than monthly.

06

Dispatch and delivery documentation

Packing lists, dispatch notes and e-way bill data generated from production and order records instead of retyped.
